Description:

The first thing we built was a frame out of 1x3's and skinned the front and sides for the bottom section of the fireplace. We made the front two 1x3's flat and the back two 1x3's on edge; we did this so if the fire box is put in place, the 1x3 wouldn't be in the way.

We made it 4 inches shorter than a full 8-foot sheet so when the 2" thick foam pieces are glued to the ends it measures 8'-0" overall.
