As the guests
approached the haunted forest, they first came across a huge 16'x8' double door
entrance with burning torches on either side. The doors were opened by two red
cloaked figures and in the path ahead was the guide, a completely black figure
with no face. The cloaked, black figure handed out soul coins (small brass coins
with a gargoyle on them, and the words soul protection written in a magical
language on the back). They are told that the coins will protect them from the
creatures within, and keep them safe from harm. Then they are told the story
about how there use to be an old house here which its occupants practiced witchcraft.
They were experimenting with things beyond their control, and opened a Gateway
to Hell!
The gateway was centered on the house, and sucked it into the earth below. All that is left is the burning pit around the corner... Then the audience was led around the corner and they saw a 6 foot diameter pit that had flickering red light with sounds of flames and Hell itself. Suddenly some demons jumped out, grabbed one of the guests, and jumped into the Hell pit. After mourning over their lost companion, the group traveled towards the old cemetery. On their way there they saw the Soul Snatcher perched on top of a ten foot tall stump, and it screamed at them. Next was the graveyard. It had tombstones, zombies coming out of the ground, and a mausoleum.
The guests were lead into the mausoleum and the doors were shut behind them by the red cloaked figures from earlier. Once inside the structure, the guests noticed the coffin off to one side of the 8'x12' room. Black light surrounded everyone, then suddenly the light went out, a strobe came on, and a vampiress popped out of the coffin screaming. She then said, "The master is coming". Then at that moment, another vampire jumped out from behind a curtain, grabbed the guide, and threw him trough the wall. Then the guide jumped up, and staked the vampire who promptly fell back into his lair. The guests were then guided through the freshly made hole, and out into the graveyard again.
They then passed a freshly dug grave, and were told that there was a grave digger here earlier, but it seems he is gone now. Then a ghoul popped out of the grave, grabbed a nearby pitchfork, and chased the audience away.
Next they see a sacrifice being performed, and just when the dagger is driven into the heart of the victim, thunder and lighting strikes appear. (This part of the tour failed, because the location of the sacrifice was out in a clearing, and the mechanism used to make lightning was too visible, so it was passed over.) After the sacrifice area, a werewolf jumped out with a human heart that was still beating, and proceeded to eat it. The group was then led out into a real cemetery, and then just before coming back into the forest, the ghoul from the grave earlier runs up from behind, and scared them all again as he ran by. Once inside the forest, the trail is paralleled by another trail which contained three zombies. They followed along with the group just off to the side, until the trails merged. The guide would stop them, and the zombies would enter the trail. The last zombie opened it's mouth, and it had a glow coming out. Then they all went off the trail and into the woods again.
This next area is my personal favorite, it featured an old bridge, The River Styx, and the Grim Reaper. They first heard the running water, then they saw it, an old bridge with a seven foot tall Grim Reaper standing by it with his scythe laying across the bridge. The guide then went up to the figure, and asked for passage across the bridge. The figure agreed if the group would pay him their soul coins, and they did. Once on the bridge it began to shake and creak, and they saw the origin of the river, a pile of skulls with water pouring out of their mouths.
Next they were lead down a prefect archway made by nature, and to a cave entrance. This cave was the entrance to The Tunnel of Terror. The guide entered first, and quickly made his way through the tunnel to the end, and out the other side. Then as the guests went through, they felt web-like strings hanging down from the top of the tunnel, and once all the visitors were inside the tunnel lights came on revealing alcoves which contained monsters on all sides of the group. Once outside, and after all the screaming had stopped, the party can see part of the cemetery again.
The attraction they laid their eyes on next was what appeared to be a dummy hung in an old tree. When they got closer, the hanging man jumped to life and grabbed at the audience, and warned them. "Do you still have your coins?, he knows, the Soul Snatcher, he knows if you are unprotected!"
Then they were led past a guy who was flailing in a tree, and back around the trail onto itself. Suddenly the guide cried, "look out! the Soul Snatcher!". And at that moment, the Soul Snatcher swooped down from its ten foot perch, raced towards the audience, and landed just inches from them. Most of the guests were screaming from this one, and sometimes got a little too close, and we had some contact.
Lastly they came across a side path that was very dark, and as they got nearer, a chainsaw was heard starting up. Then a man wearing a Jason mask ran out and chased them out of the haunted forest with the chainsaw (no real blade of course) blazing right after them! This was a great finish, because it sent the guest screaming an running out of the haunted house just off to the side of were the entrance was, so the new comers could see them running out.
