 Start out by making the dimensions for your clock. The top section is 16 inches high x x12 inches wide x 12 inches deep. The bottom section is 48 inches high x 10 inches wide x 8 inches deep. Then I made a scroll pattern for the top of the clock by folding a piece of thin cardboard in half and drawing it on there. Then cut it out and unfold it to have a perfect symmetrical pattern. The bottom one is done the same way except the side scrolling patterns are flat on their sides.
Use 1x4's at each joint to keep the pieces together, and then cut out the front opening for each box. Build a frame for each that is about 1/8" smaller in each dimension than the opening you made for a door frame. Adhere plexiglass to the back side of each frame, and attach it with hinges. Then screw in a bolt about 1/2 inch shy of all the way for a handle on each little door. Now you can add a printout of a clock like pictured, or install a real clock and pendulum like the next revision will show later this year. |
